This chic collection of modernist black and brass/gold/metallic side tables add sleek style without breaking the bank or taking up too much real estate in your room.
I’ve needed a small side table to sit between two club chairs for years now, so that was my starting point inspiration. I’ve found myself drawn to this general form lately - maybe its a minimalist-modernist response to the maximalism of the holidays?
All but one have either a granite or marble stone top, and the Wayfair Darlene table has a metallic top. I love this because granite, marble, and metal all make for durable, sticky-cocktail-and-juice resistant surfaces in comparison to most wood topped tables. I don’t want to have to fuss or worry over using coasters or napkins underneath glasses when people are in my home, whether its my boys or guests.
There was no cohesive descriptor for this shape; they ranged from “hourglass” to “reminiscent of a traditional water fount.” (I had to look up “traditional water fount” - apparently they meant a vintage drinking fountain.) I think of it as “modern metallic mushroom-ish” but maybe I’m just overly found of alliteration…
At any rate, any one of these tables would work nicely positioned next to a chair or even next to a low-slung bed, and they especially work well since they’re all made with timeless, durable materials and priced under $225.
