If you’re in the market for a modern farmhouse style chandelier, look no further! Actually, this light fixture style goes well beyond modern farmhouse. It gives an updated option for transitional, industrial, farmhouse or rustic chic design.

It would work great in a Spanish colonial revival home too, especially when paired with a “candlelight” style light bulb which gives it a slightly more traditional feel and is typical of many authentic period colonial revival style chandeliers and light fixtures.

The Bellacor Pearson black iron 20-light chandelier is the biggest statement maker at 60” wide and with 20 lights. Smaller rooms may benefit from a smaller-scale light fixture in the 48” to 37” wide range.

Any of these would look stunning over a long dining table, and they could also work as a statement fixture anchoring an island space in an open concept kitchen.

Plus, how fun would it be to weave live greenery swags through it for a Scandinavian-inspired Christmas holiday look, to celebrate springtime and Easter, or most anytime of year for that matter? (That’s the great thing about foliage over flowers - it’s available year round.)

Pro Tip: Struggling over what size chandelier to use in your room?

Here’s a general guideline: Add the length and width of the room in feet. Whatever that number is in inches, is your guide for the light fixture's diameter. So a 15’ by 18’ foot room would need an approximately 33” inch wide chandelier.

This is just a guideline of course, but in general, it’s better to size up than size down. So if you are looking at a couple of similar fixtures for your 15’ x 18’ room, and one is 27” diameter an the other is 36” diameter, all things being equal, I’d go with the 36” diameter chandelier.

As always though, I’ll throw out the caveat that some design rules are meant to be broken. Going (way) oversized can sometimes really make a strong visual statement!
